Wards 3 & 4 | Laura Hack

Laura is a mom, teacher, and education advocate with a deep connection to the Ward 3 & 4 communities, having lived in Brentwood, Beddington, and Coventry Hills. Laura received her Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta in 2011. Qualified as a math and science teacher, she has worked with students and their parents from K-12. She knows firsthand what students need to thrive in a classroom environment and brings that knowledge and experience with her to this board position.

Laura has had a variety of volunteer opportunities serving children and her community. These have included volunteering as a leader with Girls Guides, and chairing her first committee at 14 years of age, designing & organizing a Hand Across the Border camp for over 200 Girl Guides and Girl Scouts. She was also involved in promoting the Duke of Edinburgh Award program through various media outlets in southern Saskatchewan. Most recently she has served as a Mural & Policy Director for the Northern Hills Community Association as well as serving on school council at her children’s school.

Throughout her working life she has dedicated most of her time to working with children in various capacities, not only in the classroom but coaching sports within schools. She has single handedly run a Library Summer Reading Program in Central Alberta for over 110 children, where she collaborated with local business and departments to enhance the overall experience and joys of reading. Laura also worked as an employee for the City of Calgary Park n’ Play/Stay n’ Play programs for two summers where she worked with children aged 3-12 and their families. She looks forward to this new role advocating for students and connecting with her schools and key stakeholders throughout her term.
