How can we help our young people live healthier, happier lives today and in the future?
Healthy Living School, at Shane Homes YMCA at Rocky Ridge, focuses on the many ways active living contributes to a vibrant community and highlights kid’s roles within that community. Teachers and students will be immersed in the spirit of the YMCA, where all are welcome and belong. Tied in with their core values of Honesty, Caring, Respect and Responsibility, the experiences at Healthy Living School, will develop and build capacity for students to belong, grow, thrive, and lead.
Through a holistic approach to well-being, students will discover a sense of self that builds strong communities and sparks a lifelong commitment to improving quality of life.
Ideas for inspiration could include:
- Discovering Story: what are the stories in our community?
- Examining community: what is the impact of healthy living?
- Exploring play: how and where do people play?
- Engaging in active and healthy living
*Healthy Living School, previously located at VIVO for Healthier Generations, will be relocating to Shane Homes YMCA at Rocky Ridge for the 2019-2020 school year as VIVO begins their expansion plans.
