Leadership

Andrea Holowka is a life-long learner and educator who has always called Calgary home. After graduating from the University of Calgary with degrees in science and education, she began her 26-year career with the Calgary Catholic School District, starting as a secondary science teacher. She then moved into school-based administrative roles in elementary, junior high and high schools across Calgary, while achieving her Master of Education degree at the University of Calgary. After several years in the principalship, Andrea assumed a district supervisor role and then spent the last seven years in superintendent positions involving school operations, learning services and human resources. She is active in leadership and cross-sector collaborations throughout the city and province in areas focused on student learning and well-being. Andrea spends her free time working on her Doctor of Education at the University of Western Ontario and enjoying time with her newly retired husband and two teenage daughters. As part of CBE’s leadership team, she looks forward to contributing to positive and inclusive learning experiences for each student.
