Supports for Students Psychological Services

Psychological Services

Psychological services which include consultation, assessment and intervention/counselling are provided to students to help them succeed academically, socially, and emotionally within their school setting. Psychologists collaborate with school and system personnel to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments for all students.  Psychological services are provided by psychologists registered with the College of Alberta Psychologists.

Psychological services are provided to all schools within the CBE and can only be accessed through school referral.   Parents/guardians are encouraged to speak with school personnel about a referral, if they believe their child/youth would benefit from a psychological service.  Parent(s)/guardian(s) consent is required for any direct psychological services provided to a student. Schools are required to ensure that relevant documentation regarding custody and decision making authority is in the student’s file prior to a psychologist’s involvement.;
