Community Engagement Areas 6 and 7 - Schools Impacted by New School Openings

Areas 6 and 7 - Schools Impacted by New School Openings

About This Project

As new schools open, many students can now or will soon attend school in their own communities. This has resulted in space becoming available in the schools these students previously attended. Some schools in Areas 6 and 7 have been or will be affected by the openings of Griffith Woods School, Dr. Roberta Bondar School and West Ridge School.

Eight schools were originally included in this engagement. In reviewing the input and feedback and then developing plans, it was determined there would be no changes for two of these schools, Glenbrook School and West Ridge School.

Proposed plans were shared on this website and via SchoolMessenger March 15, and at a public open house March 19.
April 5, 2018 Decisions
After careful review and thoughtful consideration, we are implementing the plans presented at the March 19 open house.

We believe these plans provide the best use of learning space for our students, schools and communities as a whole. The plans align with the three key elements considered in the decision-making process: the CBE values, planning principles and the input and feedback gathered from affected school communities.

Thank you to everyone who participated at in-person sessions and through online surveys throughout the engagement process. Your thoughtful contributions have made a meaningful difference in decision-making.

To learn more about the individual decisions and implementation plans for each of the directly affected schools, please visit their school website.
