CALGARY - The Calgary Board of Education is excited to announce the High Performance Athlete Development Pathway at Bowness High School. Beginning in September 2017, student athletes will have the unique opportunity to pursue high level academics and athletics while immersed in the rich high school experience, programs and community that Bowness High School has to offer.

This multi-sport, general athleticism pathway provides student athletes with a unique technical, theoretical and experiential opportunity in the pursuit of high performance athletics.

The program supports students who are athletic and who crave a wide range of athletic experiences. Students will explore multiple sports under the tutelage of provincial, national and varsity coaches, along with highly trained teachers.  The pathway is recognized by the Canadian Olympic Committee, the Canadian Paralympic Committee, Own the Podium, The Canadian Sport Institute Calgary, and several National Sport Organizations.

Media are invited to learn more about this exciting venture at a press conference on Tuesday, May 23.  Supporters of this pathway including Catriona LeMay Doan, Duff Gibson and Max Gartner will be on hand to answer questions.
