Marion Carson School Celebrates the Year of the Pig

CALGARY — Kindergarten to Grade 4 Mandarin Bilingual Program students at Marion Carson School are preparing to welcome in the Year of the Pig with a special Chinese New Year performance.

They will be ringing in the Year of the Pig with an informative and theatrical performance about some of the Chinese minority groups and their cultures and traditions.

Marion Carson School is one of three CBE elementary schools that offer the Mandarin Bilingual Program. Bilingual programming provides a rich environment for the learning of languages, cultures and subject area content. Bilingual education strives to provide intensive language learning environments, with the potential for high academic achievement and enriched cultural experiences that maximize student opportunities for learning.

Kindergarten to Grade 6 students in the Regular Program will also be showcasing their learning through activities and displays at Marion Carson School.
Chinese New Year is Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019.

The media are invited to attend the program to see traditional Chinese dancing, singing and musical performances. The students will be available for interviews and photos.
