CALGARY — Student athletes at the National Sport School will be participating in democracy and holding their own student plebiscite on the potential 2026 Olympic bid.

On Nov. 6, polling booths will be open during the school day, staffed by the school’s leadership students. All students are invited to participate to simulate the voting experience. The mock plebescite will help students understand the power of the “will of the people,” voter turnout and how actions of governments are driven by political processes. This experience relates directly to the Social Studies curriculum, as well as a lifelong practice the education system hopes to create – citizens engaged in political processes to protect and promote Canada’s strong democratic values.

News Media are invited to view the voting action at polling booths, as well as interview students and staff.
