Over 1,000 CBE Students to Attend My World Conference

CALGARY — Over 1,000 middle and junior high school student leaders and their teachers from nearly 40 schools will be inspired to action at the eleventh annual My World Conference on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2019.

This event is a unique opportunity that allows students the opportunity to come together to celebrate leadership and learn from local, national and international organizers and activists. The theme for this year’s conference is “sustainABILITY”.
Student leaders will hear from and engage with presenters speaking about local and global social justice issues, including: Derek Juno, Simon Jackson, Alvin Law, Elder Saa’kokoto (Randy Bottle), Dr. David Manz, Graham Mossiman, Adam Campbell and more.

My World Conference continues to inform the next generation of leaders to support a variety of communities. Students are introduced to NGOs and non-profit organizations through workshops and information booths. The conference also celebrates our country's Indigenous roots and nations.

The My World Conference continues to encourage Calgary Board of Education students to act through inspiration, with compassion, and lead with their hearts.
Students will be available for interviews, along with teachers and organizers over the lunch hour.

Time: Interview opportunities from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
