2022-23 High School Designations

The CBE finalized a sustainable plan to balance enrolment at CBE high schools in June 2021. This decision (made through the high school engagement process) resulted in some changes to high school designations starting in 2022-23. If you have a student entering Grade 10 or making changes in their school or program for Grades 11 or 12 in 2022-23, you will want to confirm high school designations.

Students will automatically be registered at their designated high school for 2022-23. Any students interested in attending a different high school will need to follow the high school transfer process.

In situations where there is a change in designation for a community and students are already attending a high school in 2021-22, the following will apply:

  • Regular program and IB students attending a high school in the 2021-22 school year can stay to complete their program; this does not apply to siblings at other schools.
  • Students enrolled in Arts-Centred Learning in 2021-22 can complete the program at the school where they started.
  • Students enrolled in the Spanish Bilingual Program in 2021-22 can complete the program at the school where they started if there is a minimum of 25 students/grade enrolled.
  • Starting in September 2022, students who were enrolled in French Immersion at Lester B. Pearson will attend Western Canada for French Immersion or attend their designated school for the regular program.

See our 2022-23 High School Designations page to confirm your high school designation. 2022-23 high school transfer requests must be made by mid-March 2022.
