Stay connected to your Calgary Board of Education community
There are so many ways for you to stay involved and connected with our schools and our system and every contribution makes a difference. Here are just some of the ways parents can be involved, connected and informed:
At Your School
One of the most important ways you can make a difference in the learning experiences of CBE students is by participating on school councils. Meetings are held on a regular basis to connect parents/guardians around topics ranging from the school development plan to budget to upcoming special events.
Schools communicate regularly with parents in a variety of ways including parent/teacher and student-led conferences and report cards. Communication throughout the year helps keep families informed about their child’s progress and learning goals. Report cards are issued twice a year and summarize the learning achievements students have made.
We also welcome many volunteers in the classroom, on field trips and with tasks at school or at home. The active participation of volunteers helps students see strong home-school connections and makes many enriching experiences possible.
School newsletters and school websites are two main ways that schools keep parents informed about what’s happening in their school on an ongoing basis. School newsletters are generally distributed once a month, and every school has a website that includes information about school events, important dates and more.
