The CBE is working closely with the Calgary Catholic School District and have agreed that yellow school buses will run this afternoon.
Parents / guardians whose children access school bus service can view the status of their bus on www.myschoolbusmonitor.com.
Power Outages
Due to the weather conditions, approximately 60 schools have experienced power outages today.
We are monitoring the situation as it is continually changing. Enmax is responding to outages on a priority basis.
As of 3:45 p.m. power has been restored to the majority of our schools. The following schools were still without power:
Acadia School Brentwood School Canyon Meadows School Dalhousie School Dr. E.P. Scarlet High School F.E. Osborne School H.D. Cartwright School Harold Panabaker School Haysboro School John Ware School Juno Beach Academy Lord Beaverbrook High School Maple Ridge School Marion Carson School Nickle School Varsity Acres School William Aberhart High School William Reid School Woodman School
Calgary Board of Education schools remain open today. Some schools are reporting power outages. However, the schools remain open to accept students. Where there are outages, students will use classrooms and gathering areas with natural light.
The conditions may make getting to and from school more challenging. The CBE is reminding parents / guardians of the following:
- Children should be well prepared for the weather and not left unattended at bus stops for any period of time, under any circumstances.
- Parents/guardians should provide alternate arrangements for their child(ren) that provide timely shelter, if required (i.e: a neighbour who will be at home during the day).
- Roads may be congested resulting in possible traffic and bus delays.
Parents and students should check the CBE and school websites for updates throughout the day.
