Visit the Career and Technology Centre (CTC) at Lord Shaughnessy High School where students are plugging into their passions

Sep. 18, 2014

Come try your hand at welding and satisfy your sweet tooth at the same time. On Saturday, Sept. 27, The Career and Technology Centre (CTC) at Lord Shaughnessy High School is participating in Doors Open YYC, an event where buildings in all quadrants of the city open their doors – free of charge – to the public and provide special revealing tours and behind-the-scenes experiences.

The CTC is a state of the art facility designed to provide dual credential programs in a variety of high demand, high skilled career paths. Much of the work students do at the CTC is hands on and even client-based, like the cosmetology suite where students offer hair-cutting, styling and other spa services, or the autobody shop, where students work on actual clients’ vehicles.

The CTC will be offering open tours and demonstrations for Doors Open YYC. Come see student demonstrations, interact with automated engineering equipment or give vehicle painting a try. You can also attend live culinary demonstrations, provide talent in the broadcast studio and stay on for client services in esthetics or hair design.

The CTC is located at 2336 - 53 Avenue SW, and its doors are open from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Saturday Sept. 27.

Doors Open YYC puts visitors in the driver’s seat. Our doors are open - come on out and test drive our innovation!
