Science Program Expression of Interest - Ian Bazalgette and Valley View Schools
Following the overwhelming interest received from parents, we are pleased to announce that the Calgary Board of Education will open a new Science Program next year for students in kindergarten to Grade 7 as follows:
The expansion of the Science Program will mean changes starting in September 2017 for students who live east of Deerfoot Trail and north of Peigan Trail and are currently enrolled in the K-9 Science Program at Langevin School. For more details, visit the Langevin School website.
If you are interested in registering your child for the Science Program, please complete and submit your registration or transfer forms and the parent – acknowledgement of understanding for alternative programs form by March 9, 2017.
If you registered for the Langevin Science Program lottery and you live in a community east of Deerfoot Trail and north of Peigan Trail, you will be contacted by the Area III Office to determine if you are interested in having your form included in the Valley View and/or Ian Bazalgette school lotteries. If you decide to have your form included it will be transferred to Valley View and/or Ian Bazalgette school. You will not be required to fill out an additional form.
A lottery will be held on March 10 for the new Science Program and results communicated to families by March 22. See information regarding the CBE lottery process.
Thank you to everyone who participated in our Science Program Expression of Interest process. Opportunities to participate included: open houses held Jan. 24, 2017 at Valley View School and Jan. 25, 2017 at Ian Bazalgette School, and an online survey open from mid-December to Feb. 1, 2017. See the presentation and survey results. Your participation made a meaningful difference in our decision.
