CALGARY — Media are invited to join students and staff at Lester B. Pearson High School as junior/middle school students from CBE schools participate in a Career and Technology Foundations (CTF) Showcase.

Students engage in a challenge in an area of passion, with the support and feedback of numerous volunteers from post-secondary vocational programs and industry. The hands-on, interactive challenge events allow students to demonstrate and nurture career skills in areas like foods, fashion, photography, leadership, construction, robotics, business, and information technology.

The CTF Showcase is an Area 4 initiative in its fifth year, highlighting the Career and Technology Foundations courses offered at middle schools within the CBE. CTF courses provide middle school students with an introduction to the skills and knowledge related to Career and Technology Studies courses offered at the high school level. The CTF and CTS courses/clusters are based on five areas within the NOC (National Occupational Classification). These career clusters are grouped into five themes: Business, Technology, Human Services, Resources, and Technology.

Media are invited to attend. Spokespeople will be available for interview.
