Grade 7-12 At-Home Learning Extended

In-person classes are now scheduled to resume on Monday, May 25

Dear Parents/Guardians

Alberta Education has approved the CBE’s request to have students in Grades 7-12 continue to learn from home for an additional two weeks to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 on our schools. We are still seeing high numbers of daily COVID-19 cases in our community, and thousands of students and staff continue to isolate. In-person classes are now scheduled to resume on Monday, May 25.

There will be no changes for students in kindergarten to Grade 6, Hub online learning or specialized classes that did not make the move to at-home learning earlier this month.

We would all like to see students return to in-person learning as soon as possible. This was a difficult decision that was made only after reviewing all of the factors that are contributing to significant disruptions in learning.

Because of the move to at-home learning in April, Calgary Transit (CT) is allowing students to continue to use their April youth passes throughout the month of May. Refunds will be provided by CT for any May passes that have already been purchased. Please visit the CT website for more information.

I appreciate your assistance as we work together to support student learning. I am proud of the resilience of students and the professional dedication of staff. I am confident that quality learning will continue throughout the final two months of the school year.

Sincerely,

Christopher Usih
Chief Superintendent of Schools
